Posture & Alignment Canberra

Fix the way you move. Watch the pain calm down.

At The Body Lab Canberra, we don’t chase posture like it’s some perfect Instagram pose.

We look at how you actually stand, walk, and move—then fix what’s missing so your body does the job it was designed to do.

Why posture isn’t the problem… but it’s definitely involved

If your neck feels like it’s carrying your entire life story,

your mid-back is stiff by lunchtime,

or your lower back taps out mid-afternoon…

…it’s rarely just “bad posture.”

It’s usually a movement problem wearing a posture costume.

We assess how your body stacks, shifts, and loads through the day—so instead of forcing yourself upright like a soldier on parade, you actually move with less effort.

Common wins our clients report:

  • Easier breathing and less chest tightness

  • Calmer neck/shoulders; fewer headaches

  • More energy standing and walking

  • Better movement quality in the gym and daily life

Evidence‑based approach: We use movement screening, gait analysis and simple drills shown to improve alignment and function.

What changes when posture actually improves

This isn’t about standing straighter for 5 minutes before collapsing again.

Clients typically notice:

  • Breathing that feels… easy again

  • Neck and shoulders finally calming down

  • Fewer headaches (the “oh yeah, I used to get those” kind)

  • More energy walking, standing, and training

  • Movement that feels smoother instead of clunky

Translation: your body stops fighting itself.

Posture & Alignment Assessment (60–75mis)

What actually happens in a session (no guesswork)

You walk in with pain, stiffness, or that “something’s off” feeling.

We don’t jump straight to treatment.

We figure out why your body is doing that in the first place.

Step 1 — Watch how you walk (this is where the truth lives)

Before we touch anything, we look at your natural movement.

Not posture you’re trying to “fix”…

Your default pattern.

Because your body doesn’t lie when it’s moving.

Step 2 — Foot pressure & force mapping

We use pressure plate analysis to see how your foot loads.

Where you’re overworking.

Where you’re underusing.

Where your body is quietly compensating.

👉 This is usually where things start to click.

Step 3 — Posture (but not how you think)

We don’t tell you to “stand up straight.”

We look at how your body stacks naturally:

  • Head

  • Ribcage

  • Pelvis

  • Feet

Because posture isn’t something you force…

it’s something that emerges from movement.

Step 4 — Movement assessment (the missing piece)

This is the big one.

We test how your joints actually move:

  • Can your foot load properly?

  • Can your ankle rotate?

  • Can your pelvis shift?

What we’re really asking is:

👉 What movements does your nervous system no longer recognise?

Because if your brain doesn’t trust a movement…

your body will avoid it, compensate, or overload somewhere else.

Step 5 — Change it (this is where things get interesting)

Now we introduce simple, targeted movements.

Not 20 exercises.

Not complicated rehab.

Just the right input at the right place.

And this is where people usually go:

👉 “Oh… that feels completely different.”

Here’s the key difference

We’re not here to keep you coming forever.

We’re here to teach you how to move so you don’t need us every week.

(Shocking concept, I know.)
