Your Rights
As a client of The Body Lab, you have the right to:
• Receive clear information about your condition, assessment findings, treatment options, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
• Ask questions and make informed decisions regarding your care.
• Seek a second opinion at any time.
• Access your health records in accordance with privacy legislation.
• Accept, decline, postpone, or discontinue treatment at any stage.
• Be treated with dignity, respect, courtesy, and professionalism.
• Have your personal information treated confidentially.
Your Responsibilities
To help us provide the best possible care, we ask that you:
• Provide accurate information regarding your health history.
• Inform us of any changes to your health, medications, injuries, or diagnoses.
• Communicate openly regarding your symptoms, progress, concerns, and goals.
• Follow agreed treatment plans and home care recommendations where appropriate.
• Attend appointments on time.
• Respect clinic policies and staff.
• Provide payment for services rendered.

Not every treatment is appropriate for every client. Recommendations are based on assessment findings and your individual goals.
Risks & Possible Side Effects
Most treatments provided at The Body Lab are well tolerated and considered low risk.
However, all healthcare interventions carry some level of risk.
Possible temporary side effects may include:
• Soreness
• Bruising
• Minor bleeding
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Muscle tenderness
• Temporary aggravation of symptoms
• Headaches
• Emotional release
• Muscle soreness following exercise or rehabilitation
Acupuncture is performed using sterile, single-use needles.
Dry needling and soft tissue techniques may result in temporary soreness or bruising.
Exercise and rehabilitation programs may result in temporary muscle soreness similar to that experienced following physical activity.
Treatment outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Nasal Release Technique (NRT)
The Nasal Release Technique involves the temporary insertion and inflation of a specialised balloon catheter within the nasal passages.
This technique may be used as part of airway, cranial, breathing, or movement-based treatment approaches.
Temporary reactions may include:
• Pressure sensations
• Watering eyes
• Sneezing
• Temporary discomfort
• Facial pressure
• Temporary headache
• Temporary congestion
• Mild nose bleeding
• Temporary dizziness
• Emotional release
Participation is always voluntary and you may decline this procedure at any time.
Photography, Video & Assessment Recordings
The Body Lab frequently uses visual assessment tools to better understand how the body moves.
These may include:
• Walking and gait recordings
• Pressure plate recordings
• Postural photographs
• Movement assessment videos
• Breathing assessments
• Exercise demonstrations
• Telehealth recordings
These recordings help us:
• Assess movement patterns
• Track progress
• Compare changes over time
• Improve exercise prescription
• Support clinical decision making
All recordings form part of your confidential clinical record and are stored securely.
Educational & Marketing Content
From time to time we may ask for permission to use photographs, videos, testimonials, case studies, or assessment footage for:
• Educational content
• Workshops
• Professional training
• Website content
• Social media
• Marketing material
Your participation is entirely voluntary.
Declining permission will never affect your treatment.
Separate consent will always be obtained before any identifying material is published.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your privacy is important to us.
All personal information, assessment findings, photographs, videos, reports, and treatment records are treated as confidential and stored securely.
Information will only be disclosed:
• With your consent
• When required by law
• When necessary to protect your safety or the safety of others
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
We understand that life happens.
To help ensure appointments remain available for all clients, we ask for a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Cancellation Fees
• More than 24 hours’ notice: No fee
• Less than 24 hours’ notice: Up to 75% of the consultation fee
• Failure to attend without notice (No Show): Up to 100% of the consultation fee
Cancellation fees are not claimable through Private Health Insurance.
Appointment reminders include links to reschedule or cancel your booking.
