Comprehensive Restoration Assessment

Understand your body before deciding what needs to change.

Every person who walks through our door has a different story.

Some have been living with pain for years. Others have a recent injury that simply isn’t improving. Some want to move better, breathe better or understand why their body feels stiff, unbalanced or no longer works the way it used to.

Although the reasons for coming are different, the starting point is always the same.

Before deciding what needs to change, we first need to understand how your body is functioning.

Before We Begin

Your assessment starts with a conversation.

We’ll discuss your symptoms, your health history, previous injuries, lifestyle, the treatments you’ve already tried and, most importantly, what you’re hoping to achieve.

Understanding your story provides the context for everything that follows. It helps us understand not only where your symptoms are today, but how they may have developed over time.

Understanding How Your Body Moves

Once we’ve discussed your history, we’ll begin assessing how your body moves.

At The Body Lab, we don’t organise our assessment around body parts or disease labels. Instead, we assess how different parts of the body work together as one interconnected movement system.

To help us understand those relationships, we use three Restoration Systems.

Foot Reset System

This system explores how your feet interact with the ground and how those movements influence the rest of your body. Depending on your presentation, we may assess walking mechanics, foot mobility, ankle function, balance, force transfer and the way your lower limbs coordinate movement.

Cranio-Airway Restoration System

This system explores how your breathing, nose, sinuses, jaw, tongue, cranium, neck and ribcage work together. We may assess nasal breathing, jaw movement, tongue function, cranial mobility, cervical movement and breathing mechanics to understand how these areas influence posture, movement and nervous system function.

Posture & Core Reset System

This system explores how your spine, ribcage, pelvis and core coordinate movement. We assess spinal mobility, pelvic control, ribcage movement, posture and movement control to understand how your body supports itself during everyday activities.

Although each Restoration System explores different movement relationships, they’re all assessing the same body. Every finding helps us build a clearer picture of how your body has adapted and which relationships are having the greatest influence on your symptoms.

Putting the Pieces Together

An assessment is only valuable if it helps answer the question, “Why has my body adapted this way?”

Once we’ve completed the assessment, we’ll bring everything together and explain our findings in plain language. Rather than giving you a long list of unrelated observations, we’ll show you how different parts of your body are influencing one another and why those relationships matter.

This is often the point where people begin to understand why previous treatments may have helped temporarily but never fully addressed the underlying movement pattern.

Your Personal Restoration Plan

Once we understand how your body is functioning, we’ll develop a personalised Restoration Plan.

Your plan is based on your goals, your assessment findings and the movement relationships that are most likely contributing to your symptoms. Depending on what we find, your plan may focus on one Restoration System or combine elements of all three.

We’ll explain:

  • What we’ve found.

  • Why we believe those findings matter.

  • Which Restoration System is the best place to begin.

  • The treatments we recommend.

  • The exercises and home program that will support your progress.

  • The expected timeframe and number of sessions required to achieve your goals.

Our aim is to give you clarity, confidence and a clear direction rather than simply booking another appointment.

What You’ll Leave With

By the end of your appointment, you’ll understand:

✔ How your body has adapted.

✔ Why those adaptations may be contributing to your symptoms.

✔ Which movement relationships need to change.

✔ Your personalised Restoration Plan.

✔ The next steps towards restoring healthier movement and function.

Whether your goal is to walk without pain, breathe more comfortably, improve your posture or simply move with greater confidence, you’ll leave knowing exactly where to begin.
