How it works

Your Body, But Better – One Step at a Time

So, you’ve got foot pain, jaw tension, a neck that feels like a coat hanger—or maybe you just know something’s off. You don’t need another cookie-cutter treatment. You need answers.

This is your behind-the-scenes guide to how we work at The Body Lab, Canberra—where we combine Sherlock-level investigation with real movement-based therapy that sticks (and not in a kinesio tape kinda way).

Step 1: The Sherlock Holmes Session

AKA the Full Body Assessment

We start with detective mode—watching how you walk (not creepily), testing joint mobility, and asking the kind of questions that make you go, “Wait, what does my birth have to do with my foot pain?” (Answer: sometimes, everything.)

Expect:

  • Gait analysis (yep, that’s “how you walk” in science-speak)

  • Posture and alignment check (spoiler alert: everyone’s wonky)

  • Foot pressure mapping (CSI for your arches)

  • Joint mobility and cranial rhythm testing (because stiff = symptomatic)

  • A report, a clear plan, and probably a set of magical wedges for your feet

Session length: About 105 minutes

Location: The Body Lab – Ainslie, Canberra

This session is the foundation of your recovery—whether it’s for chronic pain, posture, breathing issues, jaw dysfunction, or just moving better.

Step 2: The Fix-It Plan

We don’t wing it. We build a bespoke treatment plan that matches your goals, your body, and your lifestyle. No “10 sessions just because” nonsense.

Here’s what we might use:

Skeletal Alignment

Retraining your body to stop doing the limpy-weird compensation thing and start moving like a well-oiled (and pain-free) machine.

Cranial Therapy

Gentle, precise work on the head and jaw—amazing for nervous systems, birth trauma, and kids with developmental quirks. Sounds woo. Works wonders.

Manual Therapy

Hands-on, fascial-based joint release. No cracking, no theatrics—just targeted, intelligent bodywork to get things moving how they should.

Acupuncture

For nervous systems in overdrive or muscles that forgot how to chill. Ideal for pain relief, hormonal balance, and trauma-informed care. Yes, it works. No, it doesn’t hurt (much).

How many sessions are we talking?

Most folks start with 4–6 sessions over 3–5 weeks. After that, we reassess. Some people pop in monthly for maintenance. Others graduate and never look back (we’re proud, not offended).

What it looks like:

  • Session 1: Full Body Sherlock + report + personalised plan

  • Sessions 2–5: Hands-on treatments + movement work + at-home drills

  • Optional Add-On: Online course access or a 6-month movement tune-up

“From hobbling in to walking out pain-free—in ONE hour. I’d tried doctors, physios, massage. Nothing worked until Riccardo did. Simple, effective, no nonsense. Just results.”
